2010 TWW Clothing Order Form!!!

Okay, we've finally gotten our acts together. Download the order form here:

2010 TWW Clothing Order Form

Please submit your orders by 2/24. Sorry for the quick time frame but that's what we have to do. If you can't get the cash in by the due date, at least e-mail the order coordinator (address on order form) with what you'd like to order. Please be very specific in what you want (size, cut, etc.). Send your money in later (but not that much later please).

Thanks so much!!!

Okay, we think this is it...

This should be pretty darn close to what we're going to do on the jacket. Finally. Maybe... :)

This is now the 2nd Layer jacket from Primal Wear. Lighter weight and probably more appropriate for out here in Cali. Still same cool retro look. Note that we are customizing it so that there is only one zippered pocket in the back and we'll use a looser elastic at the bottom so it doesn't gather as much. Oh and ignore the big 'ol zipper on the mockup - it is a hidden zipper on the finished product (that is just an old template).

This will be the envy of your riding buddies! And the 2nd Layer jacket is substantially less moolah than the Paradigm so think real hard about adding it to your order.

Preliminary TWW Jacket Design Unveiled!!!

It's still not 100% sure we'll got this route, but we're definitely thinking about it - retro inspired, a timeless piece. If you've got feedback, please let us know.

Here are the details on the jacket - Primal Wear Paradigm Jacket

It is one SWEET jacket. Designed by cyclists for cyclists. And will look quite swanky off the bike too!

2009 Turning Wheels for Kids - Team Wrong Way's 4th year!!!

Yes, we're still alive. Just having some motivation issues with keeping blogs current. Here is a report from Matt Leonard of our most recent effort.

Ten of us showed up bright and early Saturday morning* to build a couple of bikes for deserving kids. I think all of us remember our first bike and the smile it brought to our faces. I know I'll never forget my dad hiding a bike in my parents bedroom on christmas, and after moping around after watching my brother open all sorts of cool presents, my dad pointed out that he thought he saw something that Santa might have left in their room on accident. (That Santa is one sneaky guy.)

Not everyone is able to afford a bike for their child, and thats where Turning Wheels for Kids steps in. Through donations and generosity from local organizations, TWFK was able to acquire over 2000 bikes this year. Problem is, they all need to be assembled, which requires 100s if not 1000s of man ours. That's were Team Wrong Way and many other great groups step up and offer their time and experience to help assemble these bikes. After it was all said and done, approximately 700 volunteers assembled 2258 bikes that will be delivered to children across the bay area just in time for christmas.

I think most of us use this event as an excuse to get together and visit with friends, and we sort of forget how important it is. But I'd like to thank Sue and all of the people involved with TWFK for putting this event together every year. Team Wrong Way first participated in 2006 and we were a title sponsor, even made it on the t-shirts! If I remember correctly, we built about 1000 bikes that year. The event has grown significantly since then but it's still very well organized and it is something we all look forward to participating in each year.

I took a few pictures which didn't come out too well, so I'll just steal some from our buddy at Fox, Frank Walden:

Frankie's fotos

And here is a short clip from CBS 5 news I saw Saturday night:

Thanks to everyone who was able to come out and help this weekend!

Another Incredible Day with TWFK!!!

(photo blatantly stolen from our friends at MTBR)

We are very proud to be associated with this event. This is our third year and will be on our calendar indefinitely. It is truly amazing to see the generosity of people. It is great to know that over 2,000 underserved kids will be having a better holiday season.

TWW was represented by:

Kyle "bike assembling machine" Brookes
Mike "QC apprentice" Gin
Chris & Joan Hu
Bob Lofland
Garrett Meyer
Kathleen "Garbage lady" Meyer
Patrick "It's your fault" Meyer
Paul "One Bike" Oellerich
Robert "$5 Coke" Ouye (and co-worker - was it Gene?)
Cynthia "Cathy" Robles
Scott "Do some more strength training so you can bend that fork" Schlachter
Allan "the better QC guy" Sherlock
Matt "Drew the short straw to have Patrick as your assistant" Walters

The Schlachter Factor raffle was fun - Paul Oellerich was the closest to predicting the time of Scott's arrival - only 1 minute off - 8:39 was his estimate, 8:40 his arrival time after registration. Scott is improving with only being 40 minutes late.

Next year we plan on blinging out our work area. Should be fun.

See you there next year!!!

TWW and TWFK Team Up for 3rd Straight Year!!!

Team Wrong Way will again be teaming up with Turning Wheels for Kids this year.

It is a fantastic cause, and we support TWFK's efforts completely. Look below what their plans are for this year. How can you not want to support them? We'll have 16-20 volunteers this year!!! Look for our booth next to our friends at Fox Racing Shox. See you there!!!

In 2008 TurningWheels For Kids will:

- Assemble and distribute over 2,000 bikes to under-served children.

- Instill life long habits of health and well-being through cycling.

- Distribute bikes year round to overweight, health-challenged children in partnership with Dr. Delgado’s Family Healthy Lifestyle Center.

- Consistently advocate proper helmet use through a reward system of both children and parents.

- Mentor and make a difference in the lives of at-risk kids.

- Partner with other community service organizations providing bikes as incentives and motivators for achievement.

- Create opportunity for bike riding for developmentally delayed children by prototyping bikes to meet specific needs.

- Organize bike repair clinics in underserved neighborhoods and teach children how to be self-reliant.

- Organize group bike rides and teach bike safety.

2008 Late Season Jersey Unveiled!!!

Well, looks like a jersey in 2008 wasn't a total lost cause. Apparently there is enough interest in a new jersey so here we go. This will be the 2008-2009 jersey. Trying to recapture some of the good ol' vibe of TWW yesteryear. We hope you like it!!!

This is an unfinished design - sponsors will be added. Manufacturer TBD - we're checking out different options currently. Ordering details to follow as well. Should be available for the CX season if that's your bag baby!!! Should be quite the hit with the CX scene.

TWW Helps Again with Bike Build!!!

Hey so Team Wrong Way will be at it again - this time the goal is even larger - to build 1,800 bikes in one day!!! We'll be next to our great friends at Fox Racing Shox teaming up to build the more complex bikes (those with gears and brake levers). They crushed us last time at the build but we're hoping to step up our game and give them a little more competition (not likely though really).

Turning Wheels for Kids website

Hopefully we'll see you there - it's such a great cause - think of what it would be like for you not to have a bike. Imagine what it would be like as a child.

Well, we couldn't keep ourselves out of the game for long. The crew at RideSFO has asked us to help them out with the timing at the Corral Hollow DH. We did 5 years of the GGG and pretty much had the timing dialed. So we're sharing our expertise - come on out and get what you got at the GGG's - accurate and fast results!

Race dates - April 21-22; June 9-10; September 8-9

Jerseys should be in your mailbox

You can now download the TWW Jersey Order Form

Matching Shorts

Okay, so here is what I'm thinking for the shorts to fill out the kit (oh and we'll have matching arm warmers of course - the stripes of the jersey will continue all the way down - on long sleeve stuff too assuming we can get enough quantity to do them).

Whatchu think? Can still tweak some but I think it's pretty close. Continuing the disco theme with the "Shake your booty!" statement on the backsiyeeed!!!

2007 Jersey Unveiled!!!

Well, I thought I was done with this jersey bidness, but I'm back in the game. Our designer from the past two years hit the JDW - Jersey Design Wall (oh, not to mention she is with baby/toddler not sure how old he is now). Thank you so very much Erin for your efforts these past two years.

I actually have a jacket that inspired this. People seem to be fond of the Dirk Diggler font. The first time in I don't know how many years we've used a different font. Back to the classic back with the wrong way sign.

Ordering details to follow soon. We're actually working on getting into the queue. Keep your fingers crossed - we're hoping to get these by the Otter but we may not be so lucky...

[edit] Oh, and forgot to mention that we're having a contest for the collar statement (inside of the collar). Some previous statements include:

"Go big or go home!"
"Put the fun between your legs"
"If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure. - W."
"Do or do not... there is no try. - Yoda"
"Space intentionally left blank."
"Nothing comes between me and my Voler."
"Never underestimate the stopping power of a tree."
"Blah, blah, blah... Shut up and ride!"
"If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough."

What do you get for the winning slogan? Nuttin' but the glory and adulation of the cycling world. Oh BTW, need these by Friday 1/19/07. Thanks!

New Look on 2007 TWW Main Page

Go check it out at:

teamwrongway.com

Hopefully it is a bit easier on the eyes. Our blogs will feed content to the main site regularly. This is a much easier way to maintain things going forward. The main page will be a good navigational page to keep up with TWW. You can click on the updates and that will take you to the blog with the full story and photos (if provided).

Other pages on the site are in the process of being updated, so hang tight.

Thanks!

1000 Bikes!!!

TWW will have one of the largest contingents there. Come and join us - it will be like a big par-tay. What a great cause. If you've been wanting to do some volunteer work this year (you know you should), here is a great opportunity.

**********************************

Bringing smiles to kids one brand new bike at a time. Last year 452 new bikes went to children in need. This year we are pushing towards 1,000 bikes!!! Let the fun begin.

Finally! We (www.turningwheelsforkids.org) are getting back to you with our most humble plea…

To all of our eager volunteers regarding our “Bike Build 2006”:
Thank you for being so willing! Thank-you for being so patient!

We have a date: Saturday December 16th.
We have a place: South Hall of the San Jose Convention Center . Here it is: http://www.sanjose.org/meetings/facilities/southhall.php. It is BIG so we have room for everyone.
We have a start time: 8:00 am.
We don’t have a finish time because we will be there until all 1,000 (more or less) bikes are built. Did you know that 1,000 bikes lined up end to end would be about a mile long?

Has this ever been done? We don’t know!

Here’s the deal: We need you and your family/friends/even enemies to come help us assemble 1,000 new bikes for under-privileged and health challenged kids of Santa Clara County . You can stay for the duration or for less, either way this will be a great day!

They start like this:

And end up like this:

Only more! Lots more!

Here’s what you need to do:
Recruit your helpers: Co-workers, teams, family, whoever and let us know how many will be there. We need skilled and un-skilled volunteers. We can pair up willing learners with a skilled person. There are also other needs besides assembling bikes such as quality inspection, tracking inventory, shuttling bikes, cleaning bikes, filling tires (only 2,000 tires!) loading and unloading trucks, tool support, food distribution, and more. We simply ask that you come eager, happy and willing to serve the youth of our area.
We do ask that minors come with a parent or other responsible adult.

Please see attachment for tool lists and more specific information regarding the actual bike assembly process.

For groups and teams: If you want, please bring a sign or banner identifying your company or group. We want to know who you are and recognize you in our pictures and press. Be prepared to have it free standing as we cannot hang banners on the walls.

Please RSVP with your expected numbers of those who can participate by November 30th.

Just a note: Some groups already have team leaders to save me from having to interface with everyone. If you are part of a listed team, please report to your team leader. Team leaders contact us ASAP with your expected numbers.

If anyone else wants to head up a group, let us know. Otherwise, everyone else contact us at: Buildteam2006@turningwheelsforkids.org
